up on the menu this week

been a little while since ive last posted. curently trying to find a reasonably priced digital camera or scanner to upload my life drawings onto my blog, but for now they will have to stay in the sketchbooks.
ok to start ill talk about our history and theory lessons. still a quite confusing topic to take in and always manages to go offtopic some how or another, leading to strange conversations and arguements generally with a german theme :P. I have learnt a fair bit during these lectures though, im starting to see films and animations in a completely different way and being able to see things i never spotted before and understand the concepts and principles behind them.

the life drawing sesions are also very productive. the sesions was slightly more speed drawing based to try and make us pick out the main shapes of the model and try to translate them as acurately and speedy as possible. The longer poses were slightly easier as obviously theres more time to get the details in. as said previously im trying to find a way to upload my drawings, so ill come back to this later.

ok next up is my hand drawn overlap animation attempt. not particuly happy with this one, the anticipation is pretty good, but the jump itself just takes way to long. becuase of this long anticipated move i think i need to jump actions more, making a bigger difference between the anticipation and the height of the jump. the landing is so so, but i could probly making the ending slighty smoother through the transition rather than a sudden end.

next up is the 3D maya work. very enjoyably and still picking up the basics and such. heres my attempt at the 3d ball bounce. with this i tried to really make the focus on the bounces rather than the whole scene, trying to realy emphasise the stretch and squash. over all im happy with the results. i think ill try to practice more on fridays to keep the software fresh in my mind and to get use to all the functions we have covered so far.

targets:( thought i'd add this as i kinda need to do it so everyone can see what i think needs to be done and what ive done to improve)

ok 2D first: im going to try and make things less complicated, as i always think really big and end up realising ive got so much work and its far to complicated. so im going to try and tone it down.

keep to the initial breef. e.g sqaure man = sqaure. not crazy shaped being :D

try to really emphasise the movements, but only whats required. dont go too overboard

3D: try to practice more as practice makes perfect. i think this is the only real way i can improve my 3d work at the mo. im gonna try spend a fair amount of time to get these principles sorted.
